The inspiration for Flourish Bakery Cafe comes from fond memories of Mom's old fashioned desserts and simple meals prepared for the Midwestern family. We have taken great care to design our menu in keeping with these wonderful memories of delicious yet simple fares with some of the recipes direct from Mom’s kitchen. We hope our fresh and comfortable foods will evoke memories of the pleasures and tastes of kitchen baking.

The shop features a bright and comfortable dining area with an open high-trussed ceiling. We aim to transport you back to the 1950s with bakery colors of pastel blue, pink, yellow and green inspired from vintage Sunbeam Mixmasters which surround the space.

We opened our doors on June 16 and are proud to be serving the Edgewater neighborhood offering a wide array of traditional breakfast, lunch and dinner items, plus old-fashioned desserts that evoke the taste and quality of homemade cooking.

In the morning check out our freshly baked croissants, muffin, scones or our unbelievably great Danish, cinnamon rolls and pecan sticky buns! Enjoy your favorite breakfast pastry with a cup of Metropolis coffee or loose leaf teas.

We are confident you will enjoy some of the finest artisan breads in Chicago, all baked daily at Flourish; you won't want to miss the Fruit & Nut bread or Chocolate Cherry bread which are special breads baked on Fridays and Saturdays.

Besides a wide array of freshly-baked breakfast pastries and artisan breads, our cafe is now serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. We offer a large selection of sandwiches, soups, salads and hot entrees designed to invoke the memory of Mom's old-fashioned home-baked cooking.

You will definitely want to save room for dessert. We have a tempting offering of cookies, pies, tarts and really scrumptious cakes. We already have a reputation for the "best carrot cake in Chicago". Stop by for a slice to check it out yourself. We also take special orders for birthday and other special occasion cakes.
